Baby Basics: Infant Care
This is a 2.5-hour class to help prepare expectant families for the first three months in their role as new parents.
Topics covered: Baby care basics including diapering, bathing, swaddling, dressing, calming a fussy baby; keeping baby safe, what to do when baby is sick, baby wearing, and family adjustment. Families use dolls to practice various skills presented in class.
Prenatal Infant Massage
This is a 2.5-hour class for expectant families to learn the optimal bonding activity of infant massage.
Topics covered: Emotional and physiological benefits of infant massage, elements of parent-infant bonding and attachment, interpreting baby's cues and behaviors, strokes for full body massage and stretching exercises, colic and congestion relief, and massage oils. Families use dolls to practice the various strokes learned in class.
CPR for Family and Friends: Pediatric CPR
This is a 2.5-hour completion course for parents and day care providers of infants through age 8 year olds.
Topics covered: CPR, airway obstructions and some home safety. Participants are taught life-saving skills through hands-on practice using mannequins.
